The Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GDHCC) and the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas (UWMD) partner on educational outreach efforts to move Dallas students forward in education. In 2007, the partnership was formed to hold public forums aimed to inform parents, community and business leaders about new developments in education reform, including the requirements for 4 Years of Math/Science and Dual-Credit Programs. Both of these are state-mandated curriculum changes resulting from the passage of Texas House Bill 1(HB1).
The goal is ultimately to provide a rigorous curriculum which prepares students for college-level coursework and entering the workforce. The forums hosted by the GDHCC and the UWMD aim to inform the community about these programs so that they can take advantage of the opportunities to increase high school graduation and college readiness. Both organizations continue outreach efforts in providing this educational resource site for GDHCC partners, Dallas community stakeholders, and students to visit and receive important educational information to get students through high school and become college & workforce ready. In addition, there will be updates on educational issues that will be provided specific to North Texas and opportunities for members of the community to become supporters of our goal.
